Refolio Privacy Policy

Refolio is a Chrome extension that renders local Markdown files in familiar reading skins. Privacy is the default: the extension does not collect, store (outside your machine), or transmit any user data.

What we process

• Markdown files you explicitly open: Refolio reads a supported Markdown file only when you pick it through the extension, or drop it into Chrome after manually enabling "Allow access to file URLs". File content may be held temporarily in the extension session to open the reading view. Relative images next to that file may be read for display. No file content is sent to remote servers.
• Local preferences and recent files: Refolio stores appearance preferences, recent-file metadata, and user-granted file handles locally in Chrome extension storage and IndexedDB so you can reopen recent files. For files opened through file URLs, recent-file metadata may include the file name, local file URL, a short folder label, and the time opened. You can clear recent files in Refolio; clearing extension data in Chrome removes the remaining local data.

What we never do

• No requests to remote servers — the extension only reads user-selected local files and local relative images needed to display them
• No analytics, telemetry, tracking, or third-party SDKs
• No selling, renting, or sharing of any data
• No remote code — all dependencies are bundled locally and the extension works fully offline

Permissions explained

• file:///* (optional, manually enabled): to take over local Markdown files dropped into the browser.
• storage: to keep the local preferences described above.
• offscreen: to read images located next to local Markdown files so they can be displayed.

Refolio 是一款本地 Markdown 阅读皮肤 Chrome 扩展。我们把隐私作为默认设计：扩展不收集、不存储（在本机以外）、不传输任何用户数据。

我们处理什么

• 你主动打开的 Markdown 文件：仅在你通过扩展选择受支持的 Markdown 文件，或在手动开启「允许访问文件网址」后将文件拖入 Chrome 时，扩展才会读取它。文件内容可能会暂存于扩展会话中，以打开阅读页；同目录的相对路径图片也可能被读取用于显示。文件内容不会发送到远程服务器。
• 本地偏好与最近文件：为保存外观偏好和重新打开最近文件，Refolio 会将外观偏好、最近文件元数据及用户授权的文件句柄保存在 Chrome 扩展本地存储和 IndexedDB 中。通过文件网址打开时，最近文件元数据可能包含文件名、本地文件网址、简略文件夹名称和打开时间。你可以在 Refolio 中清除最近文件；在 Chrome 中清除扩展数据会移除其余本地数据。

我们不做什么

• 不向远程服务器发起请求；扩展仅读取用户选择的本地文件及显示所需的本地相对路径图片
• 不使用分析、统计或追踪服务，没有第三方 SDK
• 不出售、不出租、不共享任何数据
• 不加载任何远程代码，全部依赖随扩展本地打包，离线可用

权限说明

• file:///*（可选，需手动开启）：用于接管拖入浏览器的本地 Markdown 文件。
• storage：保存上述本机偏好。
• offscreen：读取本地 Markdown 同目录的图片以便显示。
